EbE Representative Role (Peer Group Co-facilitator)
6 months
We are looking for an Expert by Experience (EbE) to co-facilitate a support group for service users within the Brighton EIP service known as 'the Peer Power group'.
BH1011
Closing Date for Applications: 30th June Applicants will be asked to attend an informal interview as part of the application process.
Duration: Ongoing
**Location: Online monthly with occasional in person events in Brighton / Hove. The group is facilitated from the team base (Aldrington Centre, Hove). There is an expectation that you would be able to co-facilitate from this location at least some of the time.
Main Purpose: Planning and co-facilitating an online peer support group alongside the team Peer Worker with some support from a Clinical Psychologist. The group provides a safe, confidential space for people with lived experience of psychosis to connect with one another and share their experiences. The co-facilitator role involves identifying potential topics to discuss (Eg building confidence, identity, relationships) and supporting conversations between group members. This will also involve sharing one's own personal experiences of psychosis and recovery, while respecting people will have different experiences and perspectives. There is also the opportunity to get involved with our online resource platform (Padlet) and in-person and outdoor events at points throughout the year.
Preparation & debriefing details: You will be joined by the team Peer worker and on occasion, the team psychologist. The online group typically lasts 90 minutes (1.30-3.00pm). We tend to meet 30 minutes before the group and have a 30 minute debrief afterwards. In addition, we will meet for 30 minutes online in the week prior to the meeting to plan.
**Relevance of lived experience to role duties: Personal lived experience of psychosis is essential and preferably received support from an early intervention team.
Skills Experience: Good communication and interpersonal skills. This includes good active listening skills and an ability to empathise and develop rapport. Basic ability to use online platforms. Creativity and a good sense of humour are also valuable assets.
Service Experience: Preferably this opportunity would suit someone who has received a service from an Early Intervention for Psychosis Service.
