Volunteer Tai Chi Instructor (Bluebell House)
We are looking for a Tai Chi Instructor to facilitate a session for the benefit of our service users at Bluebell House.
Bluebell House is a specialist service for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder and offers group treatment in the community for up to 25 service users.
We are developing an (MBT) Mentalisation Based Therapy, group-based programme for people who experience complex emotional difficulties and relational trauma. As a service we are committed to improving people's health and quality of life through creating and supporting safety, hope and change.
We work collaboratively with our service users to enable them to understand more about themselves and their relationships, to find the courage to face challenges and to learn to live with new confidence, strength and kindness. We have a strong commitment keeping lived experience and a sense of community at the heart of what we do.
The volunteer will co-facilitate the group alongside our OT team supervisor and/or a member of staff. The supervisor will be responsible overall for the group allowing the volunteer to focus on and lead the activity.
As a volunteer instructor you will be responsible for introducing Tai Chi and facilitating Tai Chi sessions - taking into account feedback from the OT team supervisor and service users, especially in regards to any physical limitations a person may have or impact of mental health on ability to participate. You will be expected to be able to accommodate a range of physical ability. All Tai Chi exercises demonstrated will be non contact.
The volunteer instructor will need to be able to communicate clearly and encouragingly to participants in the session.
We are looking for volunteers that can commit to a minimum of 6 months.
