Ward Befriender Volunteer (Adult Services) (Coral Ward)
At Langley Green Hospital we care for people with acute mental health problems until they are ready to leave hospital and live in the community.
Langley Green has 4 wards:
-
Coral Ward and Jade Ward are for adults
-
Opal Ward is for adults and older people
-
Amber Ward is a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) for adults
All wards have a lounge and a dedicated quiet room. There are also quieter areas for sitting and relaxing. Every room is single with an en-suite bathroom and each ward has its own private garden.
We are looking for Ward Befrienders to provide companionship to patients on the ward; to help patients to take part in appropriate social and/or recreational activities. The involvement aims to help our service users to feel less isolated and feel part of an enjoyable social relationship.
We are looking for volunteers that can commit to one 2 hour shift each week for a minimum of 6 months. Shifts are available afternoon and evenings Monday-Sunday.
As the unit is a busy environment, it is essential that volunteers can take a proactive approach to the role, whilst always being guided by their supervisor and wishes of the patients.
