Dance and Movement Volunteer (Department of Psychiatry)

Opportunity image

At the Department of Psychiatry, we care for people with acute mental health problems until they are ready to leave hospital and live in the community. The clinical team includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, activity workers, occupational therapists, psychologists and psychology assistants, and a discharge coordinator.

We cover two wards and support individuals with functional mental illness. Wards are single gender:

• Bodiam Ward is for male adults (age 18-65)

• Amberley Ward is for female adults (18-65)

A programme of groups and activities is offered, including some evenings, to support individuals to work towards their recovery goals, develop new skills and interests, and occupy them whilst in hospital.

We are looking to recruit a Dance and Movement Volunteer to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals at the Department of Psychiatry for Acute Care, through the provision of weekly dance classes using gentle, joyful music to warm up, basic dance moves with gentle visualisation, and then relaxing cool down.
