Volunteer Driver (Hellingly Centre)
If you enjoy driving, meeting new people and would like to help your local community we welcome you to join us as a Volunteer Driver.
Under the guidance of the team you will provide non-emergency transport for our patients wishing to get to appointments. This maybe returning to visit home, access a health appointment or to participate in a leisure activity.
As a Volunteer Driver, you will offer reassurance and engage in conversation as appropriate during the journeys.
To become a Volunteer Driver, you will need to:

Be 21 years old +

Have a minimum of 2 years driving experience

Hold a valid, full clean UK driving licence

Have fully comprehensive insurance with business use cover

Provide evidence of an eye test within the past 2 years

Able to use a mobile phone

Undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (funded by the trust)

Complete online and in-person mandatory training
In addition, you may also be required to have a basic driving assessment from the local service.
Volunteer days are flexible and volunteering hours would be between 9am and 5pm, up to 10 hours per week.
Volunteers will drive a Trust vehicle with a Trust staff escort.
